I love being part of the regional team because I’m never far from home and I learn a lot about our country. We get to know what goes on at each port, and it’s really cool to pass on that knowledge to passengers.

There’s no such thing as an “average day” for me. We do between one and six flights a day and start any time between 5.15am and 5pm.

It can be hectic, but the passengers pep us up. Because we’re going different places with different people every time, no flight is exactly the same, so it keeps us on our toes.

We spend nights at a destination between one and four times a fortnight. I love finishing early on an overnight trip and going off and doing activities. Recently, we flew into Hamilton at 10am and had the rest of the day off, so the pilots and cabin crew hired a car and drove to Raglan. We spent the day on the beach and walked to Bridal Veil Falls.

When we have shorter breaks, we do a lot of reading. We’re used to having a blanket and pillow and setting up camp for an hour. We take advantage of quiet time, because our work is so social.
